Rapid growth VoIP and hosted PBX services
The general market for Hosted PBX, VoIP and related services is growing explosively; according to BMI-T research and analysis firm Gartner. A recent report by Gartner shows the IP voice-as-a-service market growing at a 36 percent compound annual growth rate in North America through to 2015. In the last months we have seen unprecedented growth and our installed base increased by more than 50%.
Connection Telecom’s customers have embraced our value-added strategy of offering Voice over IP (VoIP) services – not as an end in itself or revenue driver, but as a zero-rated service underpinning value-added collaboration and application services. This allows our customers to reduce their total cost of communication and build richly functional enterprise communication communities.
New data centre site at Teraco and redundancy planning
In order to support the growth in demand, and to be able to offer service assurance, we’ve always taken the precaution of offering multiple network transit routes. However, on occasion, our primary local transit route has exposed us to service inconsistency.
Thus in June last year we started putting in place extensive infrastructure to move our primary hosting site which has been residing in Midrand, Gauteng to Teraco located in Isando – an investment of R2 million. This created a complete new site, network and power redundancy and was completed on the 18th November 2012.
It has enabled us to provide further scale for our operations, and capacity for service (and service assurance).
